Quick answer

Hanlexon's Chinese worksheet generator is a web tool that builds printable PDF practice sheets for Chinese language students. Teachers and parents choose an HSK level or paste a custom vocabulary list, pick a worksheet type (writing grid, flashcards, stroke order, or read-aloud), and download an A4 or US Letter PDF. Pro plans add school logo branding and bulk class-list management. Unlike single-purpose tools, Hanlexon also runs a classroom roster, AI grading, and AP-style speaking practice in the same platform.

Worksheet types you can generate

Each type accepts the same input (character list, HSK level, or class roster) and renders it in a printable layout designed for the specific practice goal.

Character writing grid

Mizige (米字格) grid with faded model characters and blank cells for tracing. Includes stroke order numbers and radical highlights.

Stroke order practice

Step-by-step stroke breakdown showing each stroke in order, with arrows indicating direction. Sourced from Hanlexon's 10,000+ character database.

Pinyin & tone practice

Vocabulary lists with pinyin marks and tone drills. Print-friendly format with optional answer key for self-checking.

Flashcards (cut-out)

Pre-formatted double-sided flashcards. Print on cardstock, cut, and use immediately. Choose 4, 6, or 9 cards per page.

Read-aloud sheets

Sentence-level practice for fluency reading. Includes pinyin overlay (toggleable), English gloss, and sentence-by-sentence vocabulary notes.

Pick a worksheet type

Choose writing grid, stroke order, pinyin, flashcards, or read-aloud. Customize font size, paper size (A4 or US Letter), simplified vs. traditional characters, and pinyin/English toggles.

The generator renders a print-ready preview in seconds. Printing and saving are on Standard ($24.99/year); Pro adds school logo branding and bulk class-list management.

Built for the whole Chinese classroom — not just flashcards

"Quizlet for vocabulary. Hanlexon for the whole Chinese classroom."

Quizlet handles digital flashcards. Hanlexon generates printable PDF worksheets and runs a full classroom roster with AI grading and renders proper Chinese typography (tone marks, character variants, stroke order) and supports AP-style speaking practice. It is the integrated Chinese classroom platform, designed for AP Chinese, HSK, heritage Chinese schools, and homeschool parents.

Specifically, Hanlexon's worksheet generator differs from generic worksheet tools in four ways:

Frequently asked questions

Is it really free?

Build and preview any worksheet in the editor at no cost — paste any vocabulary, no account needed. Printing PDFs and saving worksheets for reuse are on Standard ($24.99/year). School plans are quoted per school — see Pricing.

What worksheet types are supported?

Five types: character writing grid (mizige), stroke order, pinyin & tone practice, cut-out flashcards, and read-aloud sheets. Each accepts the same input (HSK level, custom vocabulary list, or saved class roster) and produces a different printable layout.

Can I customize the worksheets for my class?

Yes. You can choose simplified or traditional characters, set the font size, toggle pinyin and English glosses, pick paper size (A4 or US Letter), and add your school logo (Pro). You can paste a custom vocabulary list or generate from any HSK level or your saved class lists.

Does it support AP Chinese exam prep?

Yes. The generator handles AP Chinese vocabulary alongside HSK 1–9, Integrated Chinese, and the Ma Liping series. With the May 2027 AP digital Bluebook transition, worksheets are especially useful for handwriting practice that the digital exam still requires.

How is this different from Quizlet, Kahoot, or Blooket?

Quizlet handles vocabulary flashcards. Kahoot and Blooket run classroom games. Hanlexon generates printable PDF worksheets (writing grids, stroke order, pinyin practice), runs a full classroom roster with AI grading, supports AP-style speaking practice, and renders proper Chinese typography (tone marks, character variants, stroke order). It is the integrated Chinese classroom platform, not a single tool.

Can I use it for heritage Chinese school?

Yes. Hanlexon supports the Ma Liping, Jinan Zhongwen, and MeiZhou textbook series used by US heritage Chinese schools, with both simplified and traditional character output. Heritage and weekend-school plans are quoted per school — contact us.

Does it work offline / can I print without internet?

The generator runs in your browser; once a PDF is downloaded, it prints offline like any other PDF. The generation step itself requires an internet connection.
